Hosting & care
Hosting that someone is actually watching
Cheap hosting is cheap because nobody is looking at it. When your site goes down on a Saturday, you find that out at the same time your customers do.
Hosting & Care — £15 a month
For businesses whose website is fine and just needs a safe home and someone to keep it current. Free migration, and no downtime during the move.
Hosting & Care
£15/month
Already have a site? We will host, secure, back up and look after it.
- Fast UK hosting & free SSL
- Daily backups, kept for 30 days
- Software updates & security monitoring
- Uptime monitoring, 24/7
- 30 minutes of changes each month
- Free migration from your current host
Hosting is already included in every pay-monthly website plan — you don’t need both.
What you’re paying for
Hosting is only half of it. The other half is the bit nobody sells you until something has already gone wrong.
Fast UK servers
Your site is served from the UK with a CDN in front of it, so a customer in Witney gets it in milliseconds — not from a shared box in another continent.
SSL and security
A free SSL certificate that renews itself, a firewall, and monitoring for the things that actually take small business sites down.
Daily backups
Taken every night and kept for 30 days. If something breaks, we roll back to yesterday rather than rebuilding from memory.
Uptime monitoring
We check your site every minute, around the clock. If it stops responding we know before you do, and we’re already on it.
Content changes
Half an hour of edits each month — new prices, new photos, a change of hours. Email it over and it’s done, usually same day.
Someone local to ring
A direct number and a person who knows your site, instead of a support portal and a 48-hour first response.
Moving over
How a migration actually works
People put this off because they imagine a weekend of downtime and a lost inbox. It is far less dramatic than that.
- We take a full copy. Files, database, the lot, from your existing host. Nothing on your current setup is touched or changed.
- We rebuild it on our servers. Then we test it on a temporary address — every page, every form, every link — while your live site carries on as normal.
- You check it. We send you the temporary link. Nothing moves until you are happy that it is all there.
- We switch the DNS. The change propagates over a few hours. Because both copies are live during that window, every visitor lands on a working site whichever one they reach.
- We tidy up. SSL reissued, redirects checked, backups scheduled, monitoring switched on.
Total downtime is zero. The whole thing usually takes us a day, spread across a week to allow for DNS.
What about my email?
This is the part that genuinely does go wrong when it is rushed, because email and websites often share a domain but live in different places. We do not touch your mail records unless you have asked us to move your email too, and if we are moving it we do it as a separate, planned step rather than bundling it into the website switch.
If your email is currently tangled up with your web hosting — which is common with older cheap packages — we will explain your options before anything happens.
When it goes wrong
What happens if your site goes down
Every website goes down eventually. What separates a minor blip from a lost weekend of trade is whether anybody notices and how fast they act.
Our monitoring checks your site every minute from outside our own network. If it fails twice in a row we get alerted immediately — by email and by phone outside office hours. In most cases we have started work before any customer has had the chance to tell you.
The common causes, and what we do
- A bad update. A plugin or platform update breaks a page. We roll back to last night’s backup, then reapply the update properly in a test copy first.
- An expired certificate. Browsers throw an alarming security warning and visitors leave. Ours renew automatically, and we monitor the expiry date as a backstop.
- A domain that quietly lapsed. Surprisingly common, and painful. We watch renewal dates for domains we manage and chase you well before the deadline.
- A compromise. Usually an out-of-date plugin. We isolate the site, restore a clean backup, close the hole, and tell you plainly what happened and what was exposed.
- A traffic spike. Local press, a viral post, a busy season. Our setup absorbs bursts that would flatten cheap shared hosting.
What we will not do
We will not quietly restore a backup and say nothing. If something went wrong on our watch you get told what broke, why, and what we changed so it does not happen again — even when the honest answer is that we made a mistake.
Worth knowing
Why cheap hosting is rarely cheap
You can host a website for two pounds a month. Thousands of businesses do, and for a personal blog it is a perfectly reasonable choice. For a business that depends on enquiries, the maths works out differently.
At that price your site shares a server with hundreds of others, and their traffic spikes become your slow afternoon. Support is a ticket queue measured in days. Backups are often an optional extra you did not tick. Nobody is watching whether the site is up, and nobody is applying security updates — that is assumed to be your job, and for most business owners it quietly never happens.
The bill arrives eventually anyway: a developer’s day rate to clean up a hacked site, or a fortnight of lost enquiries nobody noticed because the contact form had silently stopped sending. The monthly saving does not survive one of those.
None of which means you must use us. But if you stay where you are, at minimum check that you have working backups you could actually restore from, and that someone is applying updates. Those two things prevent most of the disasters we get called about.
Hosting questions
Will moving my site cause downtime?
No. We copy the site to our servers, test it fully on a temporary address, and only then switch your domain over. The changeover itself is invisible to visitors.
Can you host a WordPress site?
Yes. WordPress, static sites and most common platforms are fine. If your site is running an old, unpatched version of something, we’ll tell you before we take it on rather than after.
Do I keep control of my domain name?
Always. Your domain stays registered to you. We only ask for permission to update its DNS records so the site points at the right place.
Where exactly is my site hosted?
On servers in UK data centres, with a content delivery network in front so static files are served from wherever your visitor happens to be. Keeping the origin in the UK keeps things simple for data protection and keeps latency low for local customers.
Do you offer email hosting too?
We do not run mail servers ourselves — deliverability is a specialist job and doing it badly means your invoices land in spam folders. We will set you up on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and configure the records properly, which is what we would use ourselves.
Can I leave and take my site elsewhere?
Yes, whenever you like — hosting has no minimum term. We will provide a full export of your files and database and help your new host get it working. No exit fee and no obstruction.
What if my site needs more than 30 minutes of changes?
We’ll quote you before doing anything extra — you’ll never get a surprise invoice. If it happens most months, a full monthly plan works out better value.
