Where we work
Areas we cover
We’re based in Witney and work across West Oxfordshire in person — no travel charges, and we’ll come to you. Beyond the district we work remotely with businesses anywhere in the UK.
Towns and villages we serve
Alongside the towns above, we regularly work with businesses in the surrounding villages and parishes. If you don’t see your village here, it almost certainly doesn’t matter — just ask.
Around Witney: Ducklington, Curbridge, Hailey, Crawley, North Leigh, South Leigh, Stanton Harcourt, Standlake, Aston, Bampton and Brize Norton.
Towards Burford and the Cotswolds: Minster Lovell, Asthall, Fulbrook, Shilton, Alvescot, Black Bourton, Filkins and the Barringtons.
Towards Chipping Norton: Charlbury, Enstone, Kingham, Churchill, Milton-under-Wychwood, Shipton-under-Wychwood and Over Norton.
Towards Woodstock and Oxford: Long Hanborough, Freeland, Bladon, Begbroke, Yarnton, Cassington, Kidlington and Botley.
What “local” actually gets you
Plenty of firms list every town within fifty miles on a page and call it coverage. Being genuinely local means something more practical than that.
- We’ll come and see you. Most people explain their business far better standing in it. There’s no charge for this anywhere in West Oxfordshire.
- We know the search landscape. We know that a Carterton search behaves differently from a Burford one, and we build accordingly.
- You get a person, not a portal. A direct number, answered by someone who knows which site is yours.
- We’re accountable. Working with businesses ten minutes away is a strong incentive to do the job properly.
Outside West Oxfordshire?
We take on remote clients across the UK and the process works well — a video call in place of the first meeting, then email and shared links for the rest. You get the same build, the same plans and the same support. The only thing you don’t get is us turning up with a laptop.
Tell us about your business and we’ll let you know whether we’re a good fit.
Local search
Why your address changes your strategy
Local search does not work the way most people assume. Google does not simply rank the best websites for “plumber near me” — for local searches it blends two quite separate systems, and knowing which one you are competing in changes what you should spend your effort on.
The map pack
The three businesses that appear on the map, above everything else. Position here is driven mostly by your Google Business Profile: how close you are to the searcher, how complete and correct your profile is, your categories, your photographs, and above all your reviews. Your website influences this, but it is not the main lever.
If you are not appearing here for searches in your own town, that is nearly always the cheapest problem to fix and the fastest to show a return. It is included in every plan we sell, and we will do it even if you decide against a new website.
The ordinary results below it
This is where your website does the work. Relevance to the search, the authority of your domain, page speed, and whether you actually have a page about the thing being searched for. A business with one page called “Services” will lose to a competitor with a proper page for each service, every time.
This is the slower game — think months — but it compounds, and it reaches people well outside the radius the map pack serves.
What this means depending on where you are
- In a town where you are based — Witney, Carterton, Chipping Norton — the map pack is winnable and should be your first priority.
- In neighbouring towns you serve but are not based in, the map pack is much harder, because proximity counts against you. Genuinely written area pages on your site are how you compete there.
- In Oxford, both are competitive and it is a longer campaign. Narrower, more specific searches are where the realistic wins are.
We build for whichever of these fits your situation, and we will tell you honestly which searches are worth chasing and which are not.
Coverage questions
Do you charge for travel?
Not anywhere in West Oxfordshire, and not to Oxford. Further afield we would usually suggest a video call, simply because it is faster for both of us than half a day in the car.
My village is not on your list. Do you still cover it?
Almost certainly yes — the list is the places we work most often, not a boundary. If you are in Oxfordshire, ask.
Should I have a page for every village I serve?
No, and we will push back if you ask for it. Twenty near-identical pages with the place name swapped is a pattern search engines have discounted for years, and it can actively harm you.
Four or five properly written pages for the places that genuinely bring you work will outperform thirty thin ones.
Can you work with us remotely if we are outside Oxfordshire?
Yes, and a good share of our work already runs that way. A video call replaces the first meeting and the rest happens over email and shared preview links. Same build, same plans, same support.
